Our Senior Pastor

Rev. Jimmy Moor in his own words...

Rev. Jimmy and Julie MoorI am a native of the area, having grown up in Marietta.  My undergraduate degree is in history from Emory University.  I have a Masters in History from the University of North Carolina, and my seminary degree is from the Candler School of Theology at Emory.  As a pastor I have served the Gainesville First United Methodist Church (Associate), Trinity UMC in Claremont (Hall County), the Blairsville Circuit, as Manager/Director of Camp Glisson, North Decatur UMC, Kingswood UMC, and Saint Mark.

There has never been a time in which Christ and the church were not part of my life.  I was baptized and confirmed in the First Methodist Church (later First UMC) of Marietta, and it was as part of that church that I committed my life to Christ.  There I was active in various choirs and in the MYF.  Camp Glisson, where I was a camper and counselor, was extremely important in shaping my faith, as were my experiences in the Georgia Tech Wesley Foundation with Bill Landiss.

I have been married to Julie for 38 years as of May 29.  We met while serving as counselors at Camp Wesley in Fairburn.  Julie is a wonderful person who loves to sew and work in the garden.  She is also an excellent cook.  Julie is an assistant principal at the elementary school at Westminster.  We have two adult children.  Allyson is married to Philip Jones, and they have two beautiful daughters, Naomi and Hannah.  They currently live in Waycross where they teach and Philip is a football coach.  Our son Josh is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and is currently a student at Kennesaw State.

I love sports of all kinds, am a voracious reader, like to hike, am passionate about most kinds of music, and my friends think I make the best homemade ice cream in the world.  I am honored to be coming to Tucker.
